Croatian-born, German-raised designer Damir Doma is known for layered garments, sheer fabrics, and draped silhouettes inspired by masculinity and emotion. He studied fashion in Munich and Berlin, and in 2004, after graduating with honors and awarded best collection, Doma headed to Antwerp. Here, Doma worked under the guidance of Raf Simons and Dirk Schoenberger. While designing for Simons, Doma honed his skills and was able to shape his personal aesthetic. He launched his eponymous label in 2006, and in 2007 the premier Damir Doma collection debuted during Paris fashion week. In 2008, Doma's presentation for his Spring 2009 collection was named best men's runway show.
