New York-based accessory designer Alejandro Ingelmo launched his first collection of women's footwear in 2006, following up its success with a men's collection in 2007. Known for mixing Cuban influences with the edgy grit of New York fashion, Ingelmo's shoes have become a favorite with editors and celebrities. In 2008, the designer was a Top Ten candidate for the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund and has also been nominated for the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design in 2009 and 2011. Ingelmo's eponymous line of footwear mingles traditional family-taught craftsmanship and construction technique with modern silhouettes and exotic materials.
